Street signs.

Most of you would know of, or at least have heard, of the crowd that showed up last Friday on Sandton Drive. It was amazing to have 70 people holding YMJG signs in rush hour traffic. Cars hooted and waved as they drove past, some even stopped to ask what on earth this could be for and one lady even offered Darrin 50 bucks – not sure what she thought it was for. Imagine the amazement when the cash offer was turned down. By 7:30, SA cyclist Chris Froome stopped his training session to hold a sign for a bit. Generally the vibe was awesome and if you missed it, you can catch it next Tuesday, the 17th, on SABC 1 at 18:30 on the TV show, Countdown 2010. Some photos of the event were also published on www.jeanetteverster.com, the photography blog written by Jeanette Verster.

Anyway, this week we decided to approach the traffic in central Joburg and we found a perfect spot on Rissik Street at Ghandi Square. Only 5 of us began this morning to plant the seed and hopefully the number will grow this week until our massive Traffic Party on Friday morning. Pull in between 7am and 9am if you have nothing else to do or even if you feel like being a bit late for work! Some pics from this morning:

Rhein and Darrin make Joburg Great,

This chap was in such good spirits for a Tuesday. Can’t wait to see what he does tomorrow? He wanted us to take a pic of him so naturally we gave him the sign.

Rissik Street Traffic.

You make Joburg Great buddy!

You are right across from 25 Rissik St– the offices of the Legal Resources Centre– which is another organization that makes Joburg great!
